Performing in the Showcase

Are you interested in performing at this event? We have a few different options for you to consider.

Performance Troupes:

This year we are running two performance troupes at set times each week for the six weeks leading up to the event.  Performance troupes are led by Brass Butterflies instructors who create and teach choreography to/for the participants and the session culminates in performing a group number at the showcase.  All levels of students who have completed at least one session of Intro level (or equivalent) in the apparatus they wish to perform on are welcome to join.  Songs and themes will be decided once registrations are complete and the instructors know numbers and can gauge the skill levels of the participants.  Each participant will be given choreography that will highlight their strengths.  Six weeks of instruction plus designated "performer-only" practice and rehearsal times are all included in the price.  Participants will be expected to purchase a costume separately as decided on collectively by the group with the instructor making the final decision.  We try to keep costume costs affordable (well under $100, often under $50) but this should be accounted for in your budget when joining a troupe.  Troupe participants are also expected to attend all sessions, commit to learning the choreography, and practicing outside the six weekly sessions if necessary to learn their parts.

PRICING:  VIP Members FREE!  Regular 5 & 5 Members $75 + HST.  Non-members/session students $150 + HST.

Mixed Aerials Performance Troupe:  Mondays 6:00-7:00pm, beginning September 18th

Pole Performance Troupe:
Thursdays at 6:00-7:00pm, beginning September 21st

Registrations close Saturday, September 16th, 2017.  If registration numbers are high enough, troupes might be split into smaller groups and alternate practice times may be posted, however you will be given the option to accept or have input into new practice times if this happens.

Private Instruction for Solos/Duets/Small Groups:

We have customizable packages that can include full choreography and private lessons leading up to the showcase or just a few private/semi-private lessons to help you polish your own choreography or ideas. If you'd like to go this route, please talk to reception or email info@brassbutterflies.com to enquire.

Would you like to perform with your own choreography? Confident that you can Do-It-Yourself, but need some time to practice in the studio? You've got it! We will post special "performers only" practice times that you'll be able to take advantage of. Just fill out the form, below, and we'll give you access to sign up for the practices for free.  You'll also be asked to join a Facebook group just for performers where we can post details about additional rehearsals, rigging, music, etc. as we get closer to showtime.

Please note, we will be asking for a deposit of $30 (equivalent of 2 non-curriculum/open gym/practice credits) from DIY performers. If you attend free performer practices then back out from performing, we will keep the deposit. Otherwise it will be credited back to your studio account for use towards future services. We pay our instructors and staff to supervise extra practice times and incur other overhead costs as well.  However, we are happy to invest this in exchange for your creative contribution at our event, and this is why we are asking for the deposit.
