Creating your own choreography for a performance for the first time, or even the twentieth time, can feel overwhelming! This workshop will provide an opportunity for students to be guided through the creative process by an instructor. The group will discuss different methodologies for generating ideas and exploring them, considerations for structuring routines, creating interesting transitions, and how to approach exploring stylization and expression. Students will work through exercises designed to help get their creative juices flowing and will walk away with some tools to apply to their own act creation process. If you are interested in creating a piece for the Virtual Studio Showcase, this is a great workshop to help you towards that goal.
This is a workshop focused on creativity and creating choreography so while students will be supported in exploring creative variations of skills they’ve already learned, no new skills will be taught in this workshop. Every student will work at their own level.
