Brass Butterflies Performance Company

Do you love to perform? Would you like to be an ambassador for Brass Butterflies and share your love for pole, aerial, circus, and the performing arts? Introducing the Brass Butterflies Performance Company! This small but mighty team of Brass Butterflies students and instructors will be given the opportunity of performing at events where Brass Butterflies is engaged to provide Event Entertainment (paid engagements), as well as representing Brass Butterflies at community and industry events.

Performance opportunities will not be limited to aerials and pole. You will have the opportunity to train in and possibly perform in additional circus centred disciplines, such as acrobatics, dance, prop-manipulation, acting/clowning, roaming character entertainment, aerial drink pouring, and more! Additional aerial and pole apparatuses and styles you may have the opportunity to explore: aerial cube, lollipop, chandelier/tippy hoop, doubles aerials and/or pole.

Auditions for this inaugural season for the Performance Company will be held on June 24, 2023. The season will run from September to August each year.

APPLICATIONS FOR AUDITIONS ARE DUE BEFORE JUNE 11, 2023, 11:59pm.
AUDITION TIME SLOTS WILL BE COMMUNICATED AFTER APPLICATIONS HAVE CLOSED.

About the Performance Company Program/ Benefits, Commitment, and Expectations:

  • You will be required to maintain a Brass Butterflies Membership (Chrysalis, Monarch, or Kaleidoscope memberships) for the full length of your Company term/season (12 months).

  • Time commitment: average of 2-3 hours per week on top of your regular classes (sometimes more or less depending on event bookings after the initial two months)

  • For the first two (2) months of the company season* (September/October), you will be expected to attend a weekly 2-3 hour rehearsal/workshop on Saturdays. These rehearsals/workshops are provided to you at no charge and are not paid. They will encompass team building, training, skill building, “showing and sharing” additional talents, choreography and act creation.

  • For the remainder of the season we will meet monthly to keep everyone performance-ready, and to tweak or add to the Company's repertoire.

  • Additional Event Specific rehearsals may also be required as the need arises.

  • Performances where Brass Butterflies is hired/paid to provide Event Entertainment will be compensated.

  • Company members will also be expected to participate in unpaid community building and promotional events, on a rotational basis. Participating in these events allows Brass Butterflies to give back to the community, and also to build awareness of our Studio and our Event Entertainment services.

  • You must be 18 years old or older.

  • You must be practicing at an intermediate level or higher on at least one apparatus (pole or aerials)

*A company season is one (1) full calendar year, auditions will be held annually, company members will be required to re-audition/re-commit each year.
